Families & Children
I am primarily an outside, natural light photographer, which means that I do not have/use any external, artificial lights. I do not have access to a studio so this means all of my sessions (except Newborn, which are typically done in-home) usually occur during that "golden hour" outside, which is that 1 hour window before and after sunrise and sunset. I do have some flexibility here and understand that, for valid reasons, these times may not work for your family. I certainly will do my best to work with you and your family's schedule. I'm also what is considered to be a "Lifestyle Photographer." What this means is that I strive for a relaxed session where the children are encouraged to move around (some) and interact in more natural ways with mom, dad and each other. I have a few basic posing/verbal prompts that seem to help with this action.
Sessions starting at $150 for 30 minutes. A minimum of 30 digital photos included.
Newborns
For babies and unstable walkers, the approach is more standard and family members are positioned for ease and comfort. That said, I always include typical family poses where everyone is lined up, looking at the camera and smiling (hopefully). Most clients expect a few of those type of pictures from a shoot. Let me also add, that in any one family gallery, you may see some pictures where the kids are not all looking at the camera; hair, clothes may appear a little disheveled, even a few eyes closed. This is typical of a Lifestyle Photo Shoot. It's the "moment" captured-perfectly imperfect.

Since I shoot outside, I have a few local parks where I really like to do family sessions. Ballast Point Park is particularly nice with beautiful water views, a pier and a large green space with plenty of nice trees with some kid friendly low branches. Swann Park is also a nice setting as well as areas along the Riverwalk. For the beach, Cypress Point is very nice and convenient for south Tampa folks. Picnic Island and Davis Islands beaches also provide great back drops for a beachy family session. Of course, I'm open to other locations around Tampa that you may like or feel more comfortable.

Special Occasions
If I had to use only 1 word to describe my approach to family celebration sessions, it would be "candid." I personally enjoy the process of observing, through my camera lens, a family celebrating a milestone birthday, an upcoming wedding, a first child/grandchild arrival - to name just a few. Capturing the special decorations, the cake, the expressions of surprise and joy is absolutely "priceless." And better yet, relieving the family of the picture taking responsibilities allows mom, dad and others to enjoy the 'moment' to the fullest.

Community Events
For large public events my approach is to first get as many pictures of the decorated venue, including the vendors/booths with signage. From there, I focus on event attendees and activities that ensue once the event officially begins. Again, many candid photos focusing on the activities and participant interactions. If there are specific activities and persons of interest that an Event Planner wants photographed, I will request a list ahead of time and do my best to obtain those pictures and include them in the client gallery. Ultimately, my goal is to provide a gallery of photos that capture the theme and celebratory mood of the event.
